PERFIN -- OR PERFORATED INITIALS SCOTT#400, 400A,401, AND #422


PERFIN, a term used in the 1910's--usually not a cancellation as such, but rather a privately administered punching into the stamp of one or more initials. Most often, the initials was of a large firm that wished to prevent personal use of their stamps by employees. 1981 EDNA ST. VINCENT MILLAY SCOTT #1926

Poet

  • Edna St. Vincent Millay was an American lyrical poet and playwright. She received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1923, the third woman to win the award for poetry, and was also known for her feminist activism and her many love affairs.     1987 BICENTENARY STATEHOOD SERIES SCOTT#2167,2204, AND 2336-39

    1987 was a good year for printing new issues. Among the 100's of stamps printed that year, a group emerged as paying tribute to Statehood. Some of the states that were featured that year were Arkansas, Texas, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Georgia.     2007 MARVEL SUPER HEROES SCOTT #4159

    Who among us didn't read comic books growing up. Who among us don't go to see their favorite Super Hero in the movies.     1980 LETTER WRITING SCOTT #1805-10

    In 1980 the U. S. Post Office printed an unusual sheet of sixty 15 cent stamps with the theme of "Letter Writing". What makes this sheet so unusual is the different size of stamps and the different coloring. There are 3 different pairs of stamps. Each pair consists of one large stamp and one small stamp. The large stamp carries out the theme of the pair with a saying like "Letters Preserve Memories", "Letters Lift Spirits", and "Letters Shape Opinions". The smaller stamp in the same colors reads "P.     1983 SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES SCOTT #C-101 AND #C-109

    In 1983 the U. S. Post Office paid homage to the summer Olympic games by printing these air mail sheets. One sheet of fifty 28 cent stamps honored basketball, soccer, diving, and track. The other sheet of fifty 35 cent stamps honored fencing, bicycling, volleyball, and pole vaulting.     1997-2007 LEGENDS OF HOLLYWOOD SCOTT #3152, #3911, & #4197

    Over a 10 year period the U. S. Post Office printed numerous souvenir sheets titled "Legends Of Hollywood". These sheets depicted some of the greatest actors of their time.
