1861 ANDREW JACKSON SCOTT #73 ALSO KNOWN AS BLACK JACK

With the introduction of home delivery in 1862, a 2 cent stamp was needed. The #73 design picturing the 7th U.S. President Andrew Jackson, was put into use. The famous stamp is known to collectors as the "Black Jack" and also as "Big Head" since the portrait takes up much of the stamp.
Here's the interesting fact: An 1863 Confederate 2 cent stamp uses the same portrait -- which is attributed to either a painting by Miner Kilbourne Kellop or a miniature by John Wood Dodge. So the U.S.A. and C.S.A had 2 cent stamps with the same Jackson portrait during the Civil War.
