World War 2 was the most significant event of the 20th century. The Post Office wanted to honor the key events of the war efforts as well as the various aspects of national endeavor that contributed to Allied Victory.
The Post Office created 5 sheets, one for each year of the war, that consisted of a large center map framed by 10 stamps.
The world maps are masterpieces of thumbnail summaries. They call attention to major military and political developments of the year and include events not featured on the individual stamps.
All sheets that are offered for auction are double souvenir sheetlets. Auction begins 10-8-13 and runs for 7 days. Each item starts at 99 cents. To go to auction click here.
