SCOTT 2216-19 PRESIDENTIAL SHEETS SET OF 4

     The Presidential Miniature Sheets honor our first 35 Presidents in chronological Scott order. All had already been featured on finely engraved stamps, so it was decided that woodcut-like images would provide an interesting variety of design. SCOTT #4165 TIFFANY 41 CENT

     Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) was best known for his creation of stained glass windows and lamps. This 2007 stamp depicts Tiffany's Magnolias and Irises, created around 1908.

SCOTT #4475 MOTHER TERESA 44 CENT

     Noted for her compassion toward the poor and suffering, Mother Teresa (1910-1997)-- A Roman Catholic  nun and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize---served the sick and destitute of India and and the rest of the world for nearly 50 years.
     In 1996, President Clinton and the U.S. Congress awarded her honorary U.S. Citizenship, an honor bestowed on very few.

SCOTT #4465-66 NEGRO LEAGUE 44 CENT

     Considered the "father" of Negro Leagues baseball, Andrew Rube Foster (1879-1930) established the Negro National League in 1920, the first successful league of African-American baseball teams. He served as president of the league until 1926 and established its slogan, "We are the ship, all else the sea."

     "All aboard". Those magical words reverberated through spacious high-cellinged train stations to summon travelers to the gleaming, streamlined railway passenger cars of the 1930s and 1940s. Industrial designers of the time put their mark on everything from radios to electric toasters to automobiles.
     But nowhere was the streamline style more grandly expressed than in the luxurious, high-speed, regularly scheduled trains that linked America's largest cities.
